Grief is the noun used to describe all of the feelings inside us after a loss.
Bereavement means to be deprived of someone by death.
Mourning is the verb that describes how we express our grief on the outside.
So, mourning is the expression of grief by the bereaved.
There are many ways to mourn when we are bereaved:
• Visiting the cemetery where your loved one is buried
• Lighting a candle when your family gathers to remember a beloved family member who has died
• Volunteering at a facility that took care of your loved one
• Donating money to a cause related to the death of your love one
All are acts of mourning. Mourning does not have to be limited to a defined period of time. In this season particularly,
honor the grief of your bereavement by being intentional in your mourning.
